Working Approaches

These approaches enable us to maximize our impact, foster collaboration, and ensure sustainability in our efforts to empower women and girls with disabilities.

Prayatna Nepal employs a range of strategic working approaches that guide the design and implementation of our programs to effectively achieve our vision and mission. These approaches enable us to maximize our impact, foster collaboration, and ensure sustainability in our efforts to empower women and girls with disabilities.

  • Partnership and Collaboration: We believe in the power of collective action. Prayatna Nepal actively seeks to form strategic partnerships and collaborate with various stakeholders, including government bodies, other organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), civil society organizations, development agencies, and local communities. This collaborative approach allows us to leverage diverse expertise, share resources, and create broader systemic change.
  • Advocacy and Lobbying: A cornerstone of our work involves robust advocacy and lobbying. We actively engage with policymakers, government officials, and relevant decision-makers at all levels to influence policy reforms, promote the effective implementation of existing laws related to disability rights, and advocate for increased resource allocation for disability-inclusive development. Our advocacy is informed by the lived experiences of visually impaired women and girls.
  • Capacity Building and Training: We are committed to strengthening the capabilities of our rightsholders and partners. Our programs include comprehensive capacity-building initiatives and training sessions focused on various areas such as digital literacy, self-defense, leadership skills, advocacy techniques, and economic empowerment. By enhancing skills and knowledge, we empower individuals and organizations to drive their own development and advocate for their rights.
  • Research and Documentation: To ensure our interventions are evidence-based and responsive to actual needs, we undertake research and documentation activities. This involves collecting data, conducting studies on the challenges faced by women and girls with disabilities, and documenting best practices and lessons learned. The findings from our research inform our program design, advocacy strategies, and contribute to the broader knowledge base on disability inclusion.
  • Networking: Building strong networks is crucial for fostering solidarity and collective action. Prayatna Nepal actively engages in networking with other disability rights organizations, women's rights movements, and relevant stakeholders at national, regional, and international levels. These networks facilitate knowledge sharing, coordinated advocacy efforts, and mutual support, amplifying the voices of women and girls with disabilities on a larger platform.
