Theory of Change

Our strategic approach is built upon a fundamental belief: that women and girls with visual impairment can lead fulfilling and dignified lives

Our strategic approach is built upon a fundamental belief: that women and girls with visual impairment, including those navigating additional disabilities, can lead fulfilling and dignified lives within an inclusive and barrier-free society. This profound transformation is envisioned as a reality when these individuals are truly empowered—both socially and economically—and when they have unfettered access to justice, coupled with their full inclusion and active participation in decision-making processes at every level of governance, from their homes to national policy-making bodies.

A vertical infographic titled "A dignified and non-discriminatory life for visually impaired women and girls" in a soft blue banner at the top. Below it, four orange rounded boxes display the key outcomes: "Increased access to basic rights and services," "Enhanced daily living and self-defense skills and capacity," "Economic empowerment and independence," and "Recognition and respect." Further down, three light grey boxes show the strategic actions: "Work with the family, society and governments," "Specialized programs tailor-made for visually impaired women and girls," and "Policy advocacy and engagement." At the bottom, a wide red-orange banner highlights the barriers to overcome: "Stereotyping, Social Stigma and Discrimination, Abuse and Violence, Limited Accessibility, and Economic Barriers." The design uses modern flat-style icons, rounded shapes, and a clean vertical layout with good contrast.
Our Theory of Change

We understand that achieving this comprehensive change requires a multi-faceted approach. Our theory suggests that several interconnected pathways effectively catalyze and sustain this societal shift.

  • Empowering Advocacy: We focus on significantly strengthening the inherent capacity of visually impaired women and girls to advocate for their rights. This involves providing them with the knowledge, skills, and platforms to voice their needs, assert their entitlements, and actively shape policies that directly affect their lives.
  • Strategic Networking: We are dedicated to building robust networks with a diverse array of relevant stakeholders. This includes other disability rights organizations, women's rights groups, civil society organizations, government agencies, and international development partners. These alliances create a powerful collective voice and facilitate collaborative action toward shared goals.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: We actively engage in close collaboration with both governmental and non-governmental organizations. By working hand-in-hand with these entities, we can leverage resources, share expertise, and influence systemic change from within and outside the established frameworks.
  • Targeted Advocacy Initiatives: A core component of our work involves conducting focused advocacy efforts aimed at promoting and protecting the rights of visually impaired women and girls. This includes campaigning for legislative reforms, advocating for policy implementation, and raising public awareness to challenge discriminatory attitudes and practices.

Through these concerted efforts, Prayatna Nepal directly contributes to the creation of a more inclusive and equitable society. We actively work to reduce existing gender inequalities, champion principles of social justice, and steadfastly guarantee the rights of women and girls with visual impairment, thereby fostering a world where their dignity is honored and their potential is fully realized.
